1850 U.S. Census (detail)
Date: 19 Oct 1850
Location: Arcadia, Wayne, New York, USA
Notes: The parents and children were on separate pages. I've edited them together and made note of where Jacob was born. Jacob had multiple marriages. Delevan, for example, is the son of Jacob and Catherine. A William Keller lives next door.

1870 U.S. Census (detail):
Date: 9 Sep 1870
Location: Rochester, Monroe, New York, USA
Notes: F. T. is incorrectly transcribed as F. J. Laura is listed as Louisa due to a data entry and/or transcription error. We know this is the right Fred due to age, occupation and location. Laura's parents are in the same household: Jacob and Mary O. Keller. They are said to be born in New York.

1875 New York Census (detail):
Date: 21 Jun 1875
Location: Rochester, Monroe, New York, USA
Notes: Fred K. must have died. Ethel is listed as Effa. John is a newborn. Jacob Keller and Mary O. Keller no longer live in the same household. Fred T. was born in England. Laura was born in Wayne County, New York.

Laura is said to have died in childbirth, either with Joseph or a sibling who also died.

Laura Tennessee Wells

1850 U.S. Census (detail):
Date: 19 December 1850
Location: Subdivision 31, Knox, Tennessee, USA
Notes: A primary source for siblings. Only the boys attended school. I'll be attempting to corroborate this source with sources related to Jesse's siblings. That being said, the 1870 census shows that Jesse's first daughter is Mary and first son is William, which are his parent's names.

1860 U.S. Census (detail):
Date:
Location: 4 District, Roane, Tennessee, United States
Notes: The ages in this record are messed up, but the list of children's names suggests this is the right family. The family has moved to Roane County from Knox. Since 1850, as we would expect, Nancy, Jesse and Margarett have moved out. James, Stephen and William H are all about 10 years older, though the order is in error. Lucinda Jane, Margaret and Anne E exactly the right ages. The rest of the children are newcomers. William's age is off significantly but Mary's age and birthplace match the 1850 record.

1870 U.S. Census (detail):
Date: 23 June 1870
Location: 4 District, Roane, Tennessee, United States
Notes: The first daughter is transcribed as A. C. - I think it's Anna E from 1860, which could be a bad transcription. The second daughter must be Isabelle J. The third is Martha, then Mary, then Laura T. James H. Rupe and J. Bayley are William's grandchildren, sons of Henry Roope and Margaret Wells, and John L. G. Bailey and Nancy Ellen Wells, respectively.

1880 U.S. Census (detail):
Date: 9 June 1880
Location: Eatons Cross Roads, Loudon, Tennessee, United States
Notes:William Wells is widowed according to this census. Loudon County is adjacent to Roane County. Isabelle's age is wrong. Tennessee is Laura T. Grandchildren James and John are still living with William.

1850 U.S. Census (detail):
Date: 19 December 1850
Location: Subdivision 31, Knox, Tennessee, USA
Notes: A primary source for siblings. Only the boys attended school (not shown). The 1870 census shows that Jesse's first daughter is Mary and first son is William, apparently named after his parents.

1870 U.S. Census (detail):

Location: District 11, Knox, Tennessee, USA
Notes:

1880 U.S. Census (detail):
Date: 1880
Location: District 11, Knox, Tennessee, USA
Notes: This transciption probably has errors. I need to check the original document. Mary and Adaline from 1870 would be 24 and 20 respectively. Martha J is Jennett from 1870, but she would be 15. Bell would be 17. Elmira and Anna are new additions since 1870. Fredric Roope is a nephew, son of Henry Roope and Margaret Wells.

1900 U.S. Census (detail):
Date: 25 Jun 1900
Location: 11 District, Knox, Tennessee, USA
Notes: Jesse's birthday must be late June. Jesse is a widower (his wife Caroline died in 1893), and he lives with his son S. G.

in St. Ives, Huntingdonshire, England

Death: 1887

Ellen T Finding "Helena"

Ada Finding

Spouse: Laura Ethel Keller

Married: before 1870

Children:
Fred K Finding
Ethel Laura Finding
John Finding
Mary Ada Finding "Mada"
Joseph Finding "Joey"

1857 Immigration:
From: Great Britain
To: US
Ship Name: Rhine
Notes: A primary source for Fred T.'s siblings. Ellen Finding (43) must have traveled separately from her husband Joseph and son Joseph, who would have been 17 at the time. It stands to reason the two Josephs traveled to America ahead of the rest of the family to prepare a place for the large family to settle.

1860 U.S. Census (detail):
Date: 1860
Location: Arcadia, Wayne, New York, United States
Notes: Anne Finding would have been 23. Mary Finding would have been 18. They probably married. Ada from the 1857 record would have been Clara's age in 1860, so her full name may be Ada Clara Finding, or vice versa.

1870 U.S. Census (detail):
Date: 9 Sep 1870
Location: Rochester, Monroe, New York, USA
Notes: F. T. is incorrectly transcribed as F. J. Laura is listed as Louisa due to a data entry and/or transcription error. We know this is the right Fred due to age, occupation, location and place of birth (England).

1880 U.S. Census (detail):
Date: 1880
Location: Rochester, Monroe, New York, USA
Notes: Laura is said to have died in childbirth, either with Joseph or a sibling who also died. The infant John Finding from 1875 is not accounted for, and may have died. Fred T. is incorrectly transcribed as Fred L. Mary Fore was the Mary Finding listed in the immigration manifest above. The 1875 New York Census lists her as Mary Ford. Laura must have been pregnant with Mada during the 1875 New York Census. The "brother" Charles Fore is not the same as Charles Finding above; he is actually Mary's son Charles A. Fore/Ford, born in Monroe County (possibly named after his uncle Charles Arthur). A family story says Joseph Finding (4) died at age 4 or 5, but the closest cemetery match is a Joseph B Finding who died in 1886. If it's this Joseph, he died at 10.
